United Way of Lake County's 2016 Day of Caring
United Way of Lake County brings the community together to give back every year during our annual Day of Caring.
- Non-profit organizations submit one-day projects on behalf of clients, people in need and/or organizations with limited resources.
- Area companies, schools, service clubs and other interested individuals volunteer to "adopt" one of these projects.
- Agencies and organizations collaborate to procure supplies needed for the successful completion of projects.
Agencies (Submitting Projects)
Projects may be large or small in scale and may involve activities such as landscaping, painting or cleaning. Others may involve social activities such as an outing for nursing home residents, an ice cream social with seniors or a picnic for members of a parenting support group.
Agencies can submit as many projects as they like, however we cannot guarantee that each project will be adopted. We do, however, encourage multiple submissions.
Volunteers: Businesses, Organizations, and Individuals
Day of Caring offers amazing "feel good" benefits for volunteers. It also provides corporate team-building and the opporunity for organizations to help develop the work skills of their team while fostering camaraderie and friendly competition. More important, it provides a way to give back to the community in a tangible, highly appreciated way.
If you or your business/organization would like to volunteer for Day of Caring next year, please contact Gayle Sikula at 440.639.1082 or email@example.com.
When we receive the full list of projects, we allow businesses to pick and choose which projects they would like to adopt. This is done on a first come, first served basis. We encourage businesses to visit the project sites they are interested in adopting before making a final decision. This helps everyone understand the full scope of the task, the materials needed, and it helps establish a comfort level in knowing whether the project is something your team can realistically take on and complete.
