- The food items and dollars raised during the Harvest for Hunger drive in April help 51 food pantries and agencies throughout Lake County.
- These food pantries and agencies depend upon community efforts to help feed families and senior citizens in need.
- All food and dollars raised stay in Lake County.
- In 2010, United Way collected, together, more than 50,000 pounds of food and more than $56,000 to feed our neighbors.
- Juvenile Court Magistrate Jason Wuliger and his family challenged Lake County to raise additional funds by matching, dollar for dollar, all monetary donations up to $10,000. UWLC capped their match at $20,000!
- In 2009, 2-1-1 experienced 6,521 food-related calls from families and senior citizens in Lake County. This represents a 9% increase from 2008.
- Salvation Army serves on average 125 individuals daily from their soup kitchen. This most likely is the only nutritional meal they will have that day.
