Volunteers Needed for Evaluations and Investment Committee

United Way of Lake County in Need of Volunteers to Serve on Evaluation & Investment Committee

Mentor, OH  (November 14, 2016) –  United Way of Lake County (UWLC) is currently looking for  volunteers to serve on their Evaluation & Investment Committee.

According to Tami Lewis, UWLC Director of Marketing & Communications, “The second most frequently asked question we receive is, ‘Who decides which programs will benefit from my donation?’ " The answer, she says is, “Volunteers decide.”

United Way of Lake County currently funds 64 programs for 43 nonprofit partner agencies. Donations made to UWLC are used to fund the most critical issues facing the community, which is where UWLC’s Evaluation & Investment Committee volunteers come in. The goal is to ensure only programs that are effective, efficient and result in positive outcomes that benefit our residents receive funding. UWLC’s Evaluation & Investment Committee volunteers make these important decisions.

Five separate volunteer panels, which each reflect areas of critical need in Lake County, make up UWLC’s Evaluation & Investment Committee. These five panels include:

  • ·         Affordable Housing / Basic Needs
  • ·         Children & Families
  • ·         Health Counseling
  • ·         Health Services
  • ·         Seniors

UWLC is currently accepting volunteer applications from Lake County residents interested in volunteering on one of the above Evaluation & Investment Committee panels and hope you will consider donating your time to this important process. The entire evaluation process will take place from February 2017 - May 2017 for funding which will begin on July 1, 2017.

Special skills are not required to volunteer. All that’s needed is a passion for helping the residents of our community.

Applications are now being accepted through January 13, 2017 at www.uwlc.org/volunteer. Interested individuals may also contact Don Joss at djoss@uwlc.org or at 440-639-1350.

Volunteers are the backbone of UWLC. United Way's mission to improve the quality of people's lives in Lake County is fueled by people who bring passion, expertise and resources to get things done. Please consider giving some of your time and talent to create lasting solutions that improve life for everyone by serving as a volunteer on their Evaluation & Investment Committee.
