Volunteer Coordinator
United Way of Lake County | Full-Time | 38 Hours/Week | Flexible Schedule | Lake County, Ohio

Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for planning, leading and executing United Way Lake County’s volunteer efforts. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, have excellent project management skills and possess a passion for continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Development Director, Marketing/ Communications Director and Community Impact Manager to implement volunteer engagement and event plans that align with organizational goals.
  • Work cross-functionally with staff members and departments to establish goals, develop messaging, and execute all assigned tactics.  
  • Ensure timely deployment of initiatives
  • Work with Marketing/ Communications Director to provide promotion content.
  • Monitor, track, and report engagement/results, making improvement recommendations based on analysis.
  • Serve as the liaison to affinity groups and ensure coordination of affinity group events as a part of a comprehensive resource development plan
  • Work with the Community Impact team, handling volunteer engagement, project logistics and day-of implementation for all events utilizing volunteers.
  • Work in partnership with community impact team to oversee and implement volunteer-driven program initiatives, such as emergency/disaster relief services, education programs, and food giveaways to ensure implementation success. Recruit volunteers as needed and manage volunteers.
  • Assist in overall activities of United Way Lake County by working in a team environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient computer skills and knowledge of relevant software, particularly Microsoft Office Suite, online meeting platforms (i.e. Teams/Zoom), web platforms, and Canva.
  • Highly organized and analytical with a growth mindset.
  • Ability to establish strong internal and external relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • 3+ years of experience and/or training in event planning and implementation, with event marketing a plus.

Work Schedule: Office hours are flexible but are to include a minimum of 38 hours per week of work, not including lunches and breaks. There are cases where early morning, evening, and weekend work is necessary.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Typical physical work demands are required, but are not limited to, the ability to sit, stand, lift, move objects, walk, and drive. The employee may need to be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

TRAVEL: Travel is primarily local and happens during work hours, with the occasional night event. Reliable transportation is required. The employee must provide own transportation and insurance coverage. Organization will reimburse mileage.

Community Case Manager / Financial Wellness Coordinator
United Way of Lake County | Full-Time | 38 Hours/Week | Flexible Schedule | Lake County, Ohio

Help Lake County families build a stronger financial future.

United Way of Lake County is looking for a Community Case Manager / Financial Wellness Coordinator to launch an innovative new program that brings financial wellness resources directly to Lake County employees while expanding access to community resources for local families.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys building relationships, connecting people to resources, and creating something new. You’ll work directly with employers, employees, schools, nonprofits, and community partners to help people navigate financial challenges and access the support they need.

What You'll Do

Lead Financial Wellness at Work

  • Build and launch UWLC’s new employer-based financial wellness program.
  • Develop relationships with Lake County employers and help grow participation.
  • Provide confidential one-on-one financial wellness coaching to employees.
  • Lead workshops on budgeting, saving, benefits, retirement, and other financial topics.
  • Connect employees with local resources when they need additional support.
  • Track outcomes and demonstrate the program’s impact.

Support Lake County Families

  • Provide case management and resource navigation through UWLC and local schools.
  • Connect individuals and families to resources for food, housing, healthcare, transportation, and other basic needs.
  • Help lead UWLC’s Poverty Collaborative and strengthen connections among local service providers.
  • Identify gaps in the community’s social service network and help develop solutions.

We're Looking For Someone Who

  • Has experience in case management, social services, financial education, community resource navigation, or a related field.
  • Knows or is willing to learn Lake County’s social service network.
  • Is a strong communicator and relationship builder.
  • Can work independently while collaborating with employers, schools, nonprofits, and community partners.
  • Is compassionate, resourceful, organized, and comfortable working with people from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Can maintain confidentiality when working with personal and financial information.
  • Has reliable transportation and can travel throughout Lake County.

A degree in social work or human services is preferred, but we will consider degrees in finance or education, as well as relevant experience.

Many Lake County families are working but still struggling to make ends meet. At the same time, employers are looking for ways to better support employees facing financial stress. This position brings those needs together — providing practical financial wellness support while connecting people to the community resources that can help them move forward.

You’ll have the opportunity to build a new program from the ground up, develop meaningful community partnerships, and make a direct impact on individuals and families throughout Lake County.

Position: Full-Time, 38 hours/week
