Women United to Host October 5, 2023 Speaker Series Breakfast: Amp Up Your Career

Mentor, OH (September 15, 2023) –  Women United of United Way of Lake County will feature a Speaker Series Breakfast titled, “Amp Up Your Career” on Thursday, October 5, 2023, from 7:30 am – 9 am at MEACO, the Mentor Economic Assistance Corporation, located at 8500 Civic Center Blvd. In Mentor.

Guest Speaker Annette Garsteck, founder of Annette Garsteck Career Consulting will share valuable tools and approaches for anyone looking to amp up their career, shape a career they are proud of, and/or aligns with their values. Tips on building networking skills, fostering, and nurturing existing professional relationships and more are on the agenda. This interactive session will include two group exercises, one that focuses on career exploration, and the other on networking basics. All guests will receive a workbook.  

Advance registration is required by September 28, 2023. The registration fee is $35 per person, which includes breakfast, and $20 for members of United Way of Lake County’s Women United and Emerging Leaders. Women United of United Way of Lake County works to positively impact the lives of women and girls through the philanthropic efforts of advocating, educating, giving and volunteering. Their Speaker Series is designed to help educate and empower others to drive the type of change that uplifts the community and creates a better life for Lake County residents.

Over the last nine years Women United has proudly awarded grants totaling over $326,000 to non-profit organizations for programs that closely align with their mission of uplifting the women, girls and children of our community. Their most recent grants were awarded this past June where a total of $60,000 was awarded as follows:  $12,700 to Birthright for baby formula, $10,000 to the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center in support of services for rape and sexual abuse survivors from Lake County, $10,000 to Forbes House for their domestic violence shelter, $20,100 to Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers in support of their outpatient treatment program for women, and $7,200 to Starting Point in support of their childcare training program.

Grants are funded from money raised at their annual Women’s Winterfest & Holiday Food Tasting Fundraiser which will be held on November 30th of this year at the American-Croatian Lodge in Eastlake.
