United Way of Lake County Encourages Residents to Dine out During their 4th Annual Dine to Donate Fundraiser Thursday, April 20
Mentor, OH (April 11, 2017) – United Way of Lake County’s 4th Annual Dine to Donate fundraiser will be held this year on Thursday, April 20. The fundraiser is part of the organization’s Feed Lake County program, which is now in its 25th year.
United Way helps feed Lake County’s hungry by providing food to over 50 local food pantries in the community. Dine to Donate contributes to this by helping to raise funds for the purchase of food. This year, a total of 36 Lake County restaurants will donate a portion of their sales from April 20 to United Way in support of Feed Lake County.
United Way of Lake County is asking residents to dine out on April 20th at any of the participating restaurants. “The higher each restaurant’s revenue is on the day, the more we will benefit,” says Tami Lewis, United Way of Lake County’s Director of Marketing and Communications. “Dine to Donate is a simple way for residents to make a big impact on hunger in our community. We hope people will consider eating breakfast, lunch and dinner out at participating eateries,” she said.

Buffalo Wild Wings in both Mentor and Willoughby will be participating as well, however, they will be running theirs one day earlier on Wednesday, April 19 and require presentation of a ticket for United Way to benefit from proceeds. The ticket can be found on United Way of Lake County’s website at uwlc.org/dine-donate where a complete list of all participating restaurants for the official April 20 Dine to Donate fundraiser can also be found.
President and CEO of United Way of Lake County said, “More than 28,000 residents in Lake County rely on food assistance, and we help support over 50 local food pantries. Due to the generosity of our community, last year we were able to provide enough food for 208,524 meals and we hope to surpass this number this year.”
“Another way residents can help is by making a monetary donation. Every $1 donated is enough to provide 4 meals for our hungry, which means a small $25 donation is enough to provide 100 meals,“ said Lewis. Donations can be made online at uwlc.org/give or by texting the word LAKE to 41444.
The organization is also accepting non-perishable food donations which may be dropped off at the offices of United Way of Lake County at 9285 Progress Parkway in Mentor. Arrangements can also be made for them to pick up food by calling 440-639-1236.
Needed non-perishable food items include peanut butter & jelly; pasta and sauce; canned meats such as tuna, chicken, ham and spam; canned fruits and vegetables, boxed food and meals like mac & cheese, tuna helper, rice; canned soup and more.
Brunner Sanden Deitrick is a presenting sponsor of this year’s Dine to Donate event. Other sponsors include ChemMasters, Moving Ahead Services, Stanley Steemer, Willoughby Western Lake County Chamber of Commerce, Mentor Area Chamber of Commerce, Eastern Lake County Chamber of Commerce and Lake County Chambers of Commerce.
